Currently I have been taking a hiatus to focus on my pregnancy and family. I have not made any firm decisions about when I will be back behind the camera with clients...but in the meantime I still continue to take photographs and will have updates on my Le Petit Poulet blog. What an adorable family! They were full of so much personality and fun, and the kids were a blast to work with on their individual shoots especially Mr. "M" who worked it like a pro! The kids also all had such wonderfully sparkly eyes, such a cross between mom and dad.

Mr."W" arrives!

After much anticipation on the part of her family and friends A finally did give birth!
And boy is he a handsome little man :)
Another wonderful client who has become a friend I enjoy shooting her pictures as much as I enjoy chatting with her! I told her next session we schedule will have nothing to do with pictures, we'll just meet for lunch and chat! Ha Ha.
"W" was so fun to shoot. He has so much personality for being so little! His expressions just killed me. Such a cross between big sister and big brother. I can imagine the three of them are going to have ALOT of fun together!
I REALLY wanted to post the birth announcement but I don't want to spoil the surprise for any friends or family who might check this site so I'll leave it a surprise. But for now I give you.....BABY W!!

This is one of my daughters best friends, and I knew that I was going to have a BLAST photographing "A". First of all her mom has amazing fashion sense so I knew there were going to be some rockin' outfits. And second Miss "A" is a diehard fan of all that is Tyra and "Americas Next Top Model"! As we zipped around from location to location I would call out "This one is for Miss Jay. What do you think Miss Jay would want you to do!" Honestly I can't tell you how much fun it was and because I had so much fun I had to post a lot of pics because it is hard to choose a few that define the shoot. If I could post all of them I would!!

It is incredible what a difference one year can make! These three have grown so much! More beautiful, bigger senses of humors and so much confidence! I could spend all day following these three around. And despite the fact that their dad had a work commitment and couldn't make it and therefore screwed up our fantastic family shots we will just use them against him to make him realize what fun he missed this gorgeous day!!

Hands down one of the funniest families ever!! I LOVE taking their pictures, the whole family has so much personality and the interaction between the parents and the kids keeps me laughing the whole time! I absolutely love that "T" was such a little model, it's been the boys lately that have been loving the camera time! He kept popping into every picture, or I would turn and there he would be propped in some spot with a smile on his face as if to say "Hey, are you going to get this on film....cause this is some good stuff!"
And big sister is so gorgeous, those eyes are killer! One of my favorite pictures I have ever taken is the one where she has the wheat stalk between her teeth. She was just standing there off to the side minding her own business chewing on it and I'm so glad I turned to snap the pic!
I can't imagine a year going by without hanging out with you guys!

Cousins!

After a few nasty days of cold and storms it was up in the air what would happen to this photo shoot! Originally scheduled for the canyon we moved it to the valley and then as the morning progressed and rain began to fall we called it off....then the clouds began to lift and we decided to go for it!
The greatest quote from one of the mom's was "Well, I'm a bad person to ask because I'm always optimistic!" Hey, that's not a bad quality at all. We should all be more like that!! And it all worked out :)
The lighting was gorgeous, the backdrop of nature looked almost handpainted the colors were so rich. These were all little cousins to each other and they were so so fun! We got really fun group shots and individual pairings of the siblings and groups of the girl cousins and the boys etc. Grandpa came along for some of his own shots that he wanted for business purposes. It was cute to see him surrounded by all of his grandchildren, and you could tell how proud he was of his daughters in the shot with the three of them. All four of the mothers were great about letting me do my thing, we laughed a lot and it hardly seemed like work out in the beautiful fresh air with this beautiful famliy all around me!

The Big Arrival!

You may remember this fantastic child and Maternity shoot from a few months back. Well beautiful "J" is finally here and she is just as lovely as her mother!
Truly one of the kindest people "A" is one of those clients that I feel like is also a friend :)
Baby "J" is such a little girl, mom had wonderful bows and a sweet little bracelet and the cutest socks that looked like a pair of maryjanes!
I love the shots of her exploring her little hands and she has a perfect bow shaped mouth.
Thanks "A" for being so fun to work with, I look forward to seeing you and the kids again soon, don't let them grow up too much before then :)

Shhhhhh, I'm not supposed to be editing these pics yet but when I was proofing these from last nights shoot I had to sneak them on here. I honestly wanted to put these two in my pocket and take them home with me. What a darling couple, so funny and and up for anything. They never once looked at me like I was insane when I showed them where we were off to next!
I told them that I thought we should do an urban shoot every month together *snicker*.
Now's the time people....if you want some urban in the new year I am ALL OVER IT. I just get such a charge from setting out to parts unknown for some fun!

A Beautiful Fall Day with the "T" Family

The weather could not have been more beautiful for my day in the canyon with the "T" family! It was so fun to see the family again, I can't believe how much the kids have grown up. "L" has turned into such a young man, he wasn't grossed out by the possibility of getting his sisters cooties like he was last time we met :)
The three children all have the most gorgeous eyes, so expressive. They loved hiking around and looking at leaves while we shot, and later dad joined us all for some family pictures.

Two Two Two Mints in One.....

When I see these guys I can't help but get the Doublemint jingles in my head!
It is hard to believe that they are two years old. I still remember the day they were born like it was yesterday and now they are these two little men with so much personality.
"W" is full of drama, he thought that the photo shoot was the closest thing to being abandoned in the middle of the salt flats with only a broken compass to aid him in his journey home.
While "T-Bone" was Mr. Mellow (except for the trek back down when I managed to spill their candy, their mom couldn't carry them both, and their tears mixed with trail dirt didn't taste so good in his mouth) other then that he was awesome!
Such a beautiful place for pictures, it is amazing that 20 min from my home this kind of beauty exsists.
On top of all of that these are such beautiful boys with heaps of personality and love, with a beautiful mommy!

You Guys ROCK!!!

One of my favorite families, the "S" family has been so incredibly supportive of me! Mom and Dad are HILARIOUS and keep me cracking up through the whole shoot, and Mom lets me have lots of artistic license which makes it so fun as the photographer.
This time they brought cute Grandma and Grandpa along for big family pics, an adorable couple. I even got a few smiles out of Grandpa despite him trying to remain so stoic :)
"G" and "M" were soooooooooooo good! At "G"'s age they can make or break a session if they are not in the mood and "G" was so on point I could have taken pictures all day long.
A beautiful family that I am already looking forward to taking pictures of again!!

A Beautiful Romance

I wanted to take these two home in my pocket with me! An adorable couple with fresh style and a sweet love for one another that was obvious from the first time I met them.
I loved the bold color choices and the bride sporting her black Chuck Taylor Converse. The bridesmaids were amazing with their mix and match heels, carrying their bright red gerbera daisies.
My favorite time of the whole day was the quiet time spent with the bride and groom doing pics. It was a beautiful day, so peaceful and quiet on the Temple grounds. I felt like we had the whole place to ourselves.
The bride had a fantastic decorating sense at the reception, with the lanterns hanging from the rafters. And the homemade cookie bar and jugs of water and lemonade with lemon slices was so refreshing.
Their friends did a real number on their car, covering it with all sorts of yummy things, there was even an open can of SPAM placed on the hood of the car....what that means? I didn't ask!!
Throughout the day the way the groom looked at his bride said it all and I wish them the best of luck in their new life together!

Has the Stork Arrived Yet?

As of the last update "Baby Styles" (as jokingly nicknamed by his dad) has not arrived!
"A" looked absolutely gorgeous. She told me that she would be arriving with her "big ol' belly"....then she shows up looking like this which is not fair to those of us who really had "big ol' bellies" when we were 8 1/2 months pregnant!!
I'm looking forward to meeting this little guy for our newborn session, I hope he arrives soon!

How Lucky Am I?

That I open my door and get to see these two little people on my doorstep!
This was the first time I worked with "T", he was amazing. The most smiley little guy, just filled with giggles and cute twinkly eyes. There were so many fantastic shots of him it was hard to narrow it down to a few to post!

And Miss "J" how much you have grown since last we met! First of all you have hair!! And secondly you started walking. I teased her adorable mom that maybe she would be walking by our session and lo and behold the day before she took a few steps. Then during our session she kept practicing and practicing and soon she was making her way down the driveway....she even kept her balance with the wind blowing in her face! You and your mom are so sweet and I look forward to our next session.

Okay seriously stop growing up!!!
In a flash time flies by and these little people arrive and suddenly they aren't so little anymore....and they have a new baby sister to boot!
What a fun family this is, and Ute fans too!
I can't believe how big the girls are and how much hair "L" has now. I wish I had a camera to get mom and her silliness in the background, next time I need to turn the camera on her....they definitely get their goofiness from their darling mom! And dad was so great at leading them in a "GO SWOOP" cheer.
Don't grow up too much before you return girls :)

Beautiful Day in the Mountains

Despite the heat these three sisters and their families and their darling dad and his wife were amazing! No one complained (at least not out loud!!) as we hiked all over, braving ants and crumbling tree trunks and all sorts of buzzing little insects. They were even game for climbing up on an amazing boulder for some fun shots.
I don't get the chance to work with teenagers very often and I LOVED it! I would have loved to done individual shots with each one of them. The guys pretended that they were so put out to have to have their pictures taken but they were the ones that came up with the greatest ideas for shots with them in it. I particulary loved the shot of all the boy cousins in the tree with their grandpa. When they suggested it I don't think they thought I would actually make them do it!
The whole shoot was amazing, and despite my issues with the heat and sweating profusely, I think everybody had a good time :)

How Could I Forget!!!

I can't believe I forgot to post pics of my crazy little "Harmony" girls!! I adore these girls and always get excited when they're coming to visit. Since their last visit they have added another little sister to the family and soon a little brother will be on the way!
Big sister "O" makes me laugh out loud! You never know what is going to come out her mouth and "A" follows right along. It's kids like these that make my job the best!!I've posted more pics of them on my photography website.

When a family gets out of a car dressed like this you grab your camera and shoot for all you're worth!
I adore this family, the mom should be a model hands down. And little "P" and "T" are breathtaking with those dark eyes and gorgeous hair. This was the first time I met dad and despite our later start with the photo shoot they all handled it like pros and we got wonderful shots.

I LOVED these pictures! I don't often get to do maternity sessions, I think a lot of women forget about that special time when the baby is still inside of them and only think to get pictures once the little one is here!! This client was so amazing and absoultey gorgeous....I definitely did not look this gorgeous when I was pregnant with my children.
I particulary adored the pictures where her son ended up wandering through, the one with him crawling out out of the frame in black and white make me laugh out loud! What a perfect capture of life as a pregnant mother....one on the way and one all over the place.
Her son was a doll with that tow head and preppy style and I can't wait to see them again when little sister arrives :)

Fabulous Home Photo Shoot

I've been wanting to venture out to someone's home and be able to capture them in their own enviroment and this client was up for it. I particularly loved the shots in Mr. C's beautiful bedroom, lots of natural light and soft colors!

As if it didn't get cute enough with one child....they went and added two more to the mix! Such a cute family, I am amazed by how much the twins have grown since their last visit and I still cannot tell them apart and have come to the conclusion I probably never will!!!

Nine months and so happy, as well as entertained by big sister Kinners. "K" You are the BEST BEST storyteller in all the land, your big imagination and vocabulary need to be caught on tape and perserved forever. You have such a classic look about you I tell your mom all the time how much you remind me of "Old Hollywood" and the classic screen stars.

One of my favorite things about the photo shoot was watching these two little beauties enjoying nature. They had handfuls of bark and dirt all over their sweet white dresses, flowers in their mouths and their ten sweet little toes being tickled by grass.

Try not to grow up too much before I see you again!!

Little Boy(s) Blue

In my world filled with little girls it is always fun to get a chance to photograph some boys!

I love how different they are from girls, the way they get focused on things and are so intense about it. Their sensitivity and silly side that goes from silly to downright goofy in a split second.

These boys were so fun to work with. The older "C" was darling, talking so sweetly to his brother, asking him to come over so he could read him book and trying to get the little one comfortable. I looked at their cute mother and said "He is soooooooo sweet! Is he always like this?" And her reply was "No!" and we both started laughing.

The littler "C" had the most wonderful expression. I loved his big eyes and his cute spikey hair. I particulary loved this candid shot when mom reached in to tweak his ear to get him to smile! What a fun picture for the boys to have as they grow up :)

Boys are also fantastic outside! Running, playing, using bark as a creative mask....

What a great day this was and these boys are welcome back anytime!

What would I do without Miss "E" to brighten up my photography day! I love being the "C" families "exclusive photographer" ;) and I hope you will always come to see me when you are in town!!

Watching Little "S" grow has been so fun, what a beauty. And what can we say about Miss "E".....despite never wanting to have her picture taken she just glows on film with those amazing eyes and that smile.

This was the first time I've been able to do a photoshoot with dad so it was fun to have him in on the action and get some family shots!

Fantastic Four!

Four fantastic personalities rolled into one family!
This was their first time visitng me for a photo shoot and I could not have enjoyed it more. We actually had a split session and I wasn't sure they were going to be so happy to come back for more but they were!!

What fun kids, each one so different. The boys were close, you could see that "we're the boys we must ban together!" bond between them. It was so funny to see the relationship of J with his sisters. When posing with big sister A he was accomadating and did what he needed to do but when time came to pose with little sister S suddenly he couldn't stand still. Heaven forbid he get some sort of little sister cooties!!

I just adore her body position on this second one, determined that she will snuggle him no matter what!

It's families like this that make my job so fun!

You Make Me Smile

I had a really good time with the "R" family. Despite the chaos around my home at the time they came in and made me smile!

It is so fun getting to watch these children grow. I remember when Big M came into the world way to early and now he is this gorgeous little boy with the most kissable lips I have ever seen.

And Mr. C is a hoot. I about fell over when they brought in this fantastic fireman outfit complete with the firetruck...a photographers dream!! I loved his serious face as he worked the hose and called in backups to help with the fire.

A joy as always to work with and I look forward to watching the little ones grow :)

What a wonderful thing it is to be a part of a wedding, to be able to photograph the joy, the beauty, the stolen glances between a couple deeply in love as they take on such an important commitment to one another.

To be the fly on the wall, moving in and out of the different groupings as the day builds. The groom was such a nice guy with a hilarious big family that I adored working with. The mother of the groom was so proud of her sons "Just look at my four handsome sons!"

The bride was so relaxed and looked amazing! Her dress was simple and elegant, her sweet little neice was her Aunties "everything" which the little girl would proudly tell you! She was her flower girl, ring bearer and maid of honor.

Thank you to everyone for letting me be a part of your special day and trusting me to catch the moments you will keep for a lifetime!

Oh Baby!

Oooooooooooh Baby J you make me squeal you are so yummy!! And your mommy is also beautiful with a beautiful serene expression, you can tell she is a wonderful mother.

This family and extended family have been so much fun to work with over the last year and a half. I can honestly say that I have loved photographing all of them and always look forward to their return! I also have told Baby J's mom that I feel that I think it is only right I become an honorary member of their family now so hopefully they have foom for one more!! :)

Sweetest Sisters

There is something so wonderful about sisters. The way they look to each other for comfort and mothering but at the same time want to maintain this independence!
These sisters were so beautiful, such different coloring and mannerisims from one another, and such a cute bond.

Syd had a wonderful twinkle in her eye and her hair....GORGEOUS!!!
She brought this wonderful stuffed tiger that had been by her side since she was just little, that sweet little tiger had been given lots of love from his owner.

And sweet Chloe loved to read, something she picked up from big sis!

This little guy was so smiley and such a boy!! He cracked me up with his big dimpled grin.

Boys are always so interesting to take pictures of, they don't want to sit, they want to stay busy! They want to explore and touch and see how things work. When we took Mr. M outside he loved the dirt and rocks.

He also loved running for his car flashing me that big grin and calling out "Good bye!"

I was telling E's mom today how much I adore taking her pictures. For some reason they always end up looking like a work of art to me, the way she positions herself and the expressions on her face.

When I look at her pictures I can imagine what she will look like when she is a young adult.

Right now this little one is into dressups and pretending to be wonderful Princesses in faraway lands...

The sparkle in her eyes when we brought out the dress up box was wonderful!

Always Unique

This little boy I can truly say I have watched grow up! I shot his pictures for the first time when he was nine days old, his mom was one of my very first clients and I am always grateful to her for taking a chance on me!

C has always had the most wonderfully unique look to him. Even as a newborn he was so fantastic with these old soul eyes that were always wide open, taking it all in.
He is also very smart! At 18 months he was telling me all the sounds that animals make as we took his pictures and once we hit outside well he was raring to go!

I'm up to the challenge!

Little Sam! This was his first time visiting me with his cute mommy and daddy for pictures. What a gorgeous little guy with those full lips and killer curls.
I'm pretty sure pictures was about the last thing Sam wanted to be doing on this beautiful Saturday, and he wanted to make sure that I knew that!

He was a character, so interesting to watch his fascination with things. The full attention he would put on whatever he wanted in his little grip. I loved how his pictures turned out because the pictures are about Sam being Sam and I think that comes out. HIs parents were wonderfully patient with the whole process and I look forward to seeing them again!

A Few of My Favorite Things

Of course two of my favorite subjects to photograph are my girls, and while I'm sure there are days when they both cringe as the camera comes out of the bag for a quick picture of them, most of the time they are good sports! I think of all the pictures I enjoy snapping it is the candid moments, when kids are being kids or parents are being parents. The looks, touches, smiles and expressions that come when no one is shouting poses for them to perform while trying to still remain "natural".

Recently I took the girls on a field trip day where they become oblivious to everything but the beauty and nature around them!

It is such a gorgeous spot it is hard to believe that something so beautiful exsists so close to us. I'm looking forward to taking some clients here and taking some pictures soon!

Miss Syd and Mr. J

I am currently editing clients pictures and I have to say, these pics of Miss Syd and Mr. J are putting the biggest smile on my face! Honestly these two were the cutest stinkin' kids, it was one of those sessions where everything was right on point, including the adorable brother and sister relationship between these two!

I have taken pics of Miss Syd before, their mom has been an awesome supporter of mine since the first time she came to me and for that I am so grateful! This little girl has the most amazing face and posture. I love the way she looks right into the lens, it is as if there is no lens between us and she is staring right into my eyes. She has that old soul look about her.

This is the first time Mr. J has been by and I can't wait until he comes again! What a nut!!! He had such sparkly eyes and was quick to smile and chat with me. I love the way both of these children sit and their body positions and leg positions.

I am a big fan of the white background when I shoot, the contrast is very interesting to me and I feel like it really brings more of the subject out, the eyes in particular. But when I do switch it up and toss in a funky fun color it is a nice breath of fresh air. Mr. J was perfect on this apple green with his dark hair and blue and white stripes.

Their mom is going to have another baby and I'm looking forward to doing some maternity shots and pictures of them with their new sibling in the fall!

I'm sure it will be a blast :)

Little Ones Becoming Big Ones!

What a beautiful day it was today! The weather was gorgeous and I had two of my little favorites return for photoshoots.

This little one is so sweet. The first time he came for pictures I told his parents that he reminded me of a wee small puppet! And I'm happy to say that even though he is now six months old he is still that same wonderful wee small puppet.

What an expressive face and big inquistive eyes, he always makes me wonder what he is thinking as he takes in his surroundings. I loved watching him flip his pacifier around, only to get it back in his fist to start the game over again. His parents are the neatest couple, so patient and loving with him they are a joy to work with anytime!

My second little girl is already one! It seems like she was just this little baby, and while she is still this petite little thing she is such a big girl. Close to walking, sweet little pierced ears and stunning blue eyes.

Her dad was making me laugh today at his inability to convince mom that photos was a mom and daughter thing on Saturday and golf was a dad thing on Saturday! And despite his desire to be hitting the links instead of coaxing his little girl to smile he was still a great sport and support to his family!

I'm not sure I approve of this! I have been photographing these little monkeys since they were born, when no one could tell them apart! Now they are these two seperate little guys with distinct personalities who I have advised my daughters to stake a claim on right now for future husbands!!

A New Day In The Garden

It's a brand new day in the garden as I try to set up my new home here at blogspot, moving around the furniture, painting the walls....trying to get this blog to feel more like "me".

This past weekend I had the pleasure of doing a spontaneous photoshoot for a little girl who is turning six and needed an invitation created for her party! The theme is "Day at the Races" where her fantastic mom has incorporated all things Churchill Downs into a birthday party, fancy derby hats, white gloves, winning ponies......

I absolutely adored taking pictures of this little girl because she was up for anything, no matter how silly!!

One thing I have really loved is being asked to design birth announcements or invites. It is so much fun to bring it all together and create a "feel" for an special event. This is the final invite, minus the personal information, as I wouldn't want to post this info for the world to see! I loved the way it turned out, the writing was done in pink and black with a bold style and her name in a more flowing font with elements of a real race day tossed in for fun!
